About
The Digital Media Lab website was founded in Winter 2021 based on the efforts of the Digital Media Standing Committee. The lab is part of the University of the Fraser Valley School of Creative Arts (UFV SoCA), and its mission is to promote digital media projects and research among faculty and students. Aligned with SoCA’s vision as an interdisciplinary school, the Digital Media Lab website is the platform for sharing digital media ideas and initiating interdisciplinary conversation among various disciplines such as Visual Arts and Art History, Media, Theatre, and Performance within the School of Creative Arts.
Located in the Fraser Valley, SoCA Digital Media Lab spaces provide UFV students with the opportunity to develop computing and digital design skills, collaboration across disciplines, and SoCA faculty encourage innovation, creativity, research, and experimentation with emerging multi-media technologies.
The digital media spaces include the following for UFV students registered in a SoCA Media Arts course
- Apple Mac lab with workstations that include premiere video, audio and photo editing software
- First class printers and scanners
- Photography studio
- Equipment rentals
- Green screen studio equipped with OptiTrack motion capture cameras, and LED lighting with DMX control.
